ATU 1576 Bargaining Update for Community Transit
October 7, 2025
Your ATU Bargaining Team met today at the Everett Labor Temple and had another productive session at the table. We’re pleased to share that we reached a Tentative Agreement on Article 17 – Grievance and Arbitration Procedures, which updates some long-outdated language on how arbitrators are selected. It’s a solid step forward that strengthens our members’ rights and streamlines the process.
Most of our day was spent on Article 6.1 – Seniority, focusing on how seniority is established when an employee is hired into a classification. We’ve proposed language that ensures ATU-represented employees are given priority over outside applicants or non-represented workers when moving into these positions — because our members deserve to be recognized for their service and commitment.
We also continued refining a ballot and survey for an upcoming Advisory Vote on part-time and full-time seniority language. Your feedback will directly shape the proposal we bring to the table. The Bargaining Team will be at the base on Friday, October 24, and Tuesday, October 28, from 7 AM to 7 PM to meet with members, answer questions, and collect votes. We’ll also be reaching out to other classifications to make sure everyone has the chance to participate.
We know the seniority issue has been on members’ minds for a long time, and it’s time to get it resolved so we can move forward with a strong, united proposal at our next session on October 29.
Your continued support, solidarity, and patience are what keep this Local strong. Stay connected, and remember — when we stand together, we win together.
In solidarity,
Your ATU 1576 Bargaining Team
