ATU Local 1576 Bargaining Update
Community Transit Employees
Date: July 9, 2025
Dear ATU Local 1576 Members,
On July 9, your bargaining team met with Community Transit management at the Union office and presented our complete proposal—covering both economic and non-economic issues. The proposal reflects survey responses, input from members across classifications, and discussions within the Executive Board.
Key items in the Union’s proposal include:
- Wage increases, including longevity pay
- Mandatory employer contributions to 457 plans
- Increases to PTO accrual, tiers, and caps
- Stronger grievance and arbitration language
- Clearer classification definitions
- Additional paid holidays
- A new Family and Wellness benefit
- Protections around emerging technologies
- Increased uniform allowances
- Extended leave for catastrophic health issues
- And more
The parties agreed on ground rules and reviewed existing MOUs. Management asked clarifying questions and noted that we’re not far apart on several provisions. It was a productive first session.
Next Steps
We meet again on July 23, 2025, at Community Transit’s facility. Meetings will alternate between CT and the Union office. At the next session, we expect management to respond to our proposal and are hopeful to reach tentative agreements on some items.
What is a Tentative Agreement?
A tentative agreement is an agreement on a specific issue reached between the two parties at the bargaining table which is then not final until the ratification vote on the full contract offer by the membership.
We’ll continue to keep you informed as bargaining progresses. For more detailed updates, attend membership meetings—those discussions are for members only. If you’re represented by the Union and haven’t yet joined, now is the time to get involved.
In solidarity,
ATU Local 1576
