ATU Local 1576 Bargaining Update
BARGAINING UPDATE
November 5, 2025
Your ATU 1576 bargaining team met with Community Transit today — our first session since the October Seniority Advisory Vote. An overwhelming majority of members cast their ballot, and you told us that Option 2 — combining the full-time and part-time lists — was important, and we’ve been working to make that happen.
We made solid progress today. The bargaining team focused on refining the seniority language, and here’s the short version of what we’re proposing:
All FT and PT employees will be on one seniority list, with vacation bids and layoffs based on total time in classification.
We also worked on how new seniority is administered — making sure that when employees are hired or promoted into an ATU represented position, seniority order is equitable for everyone, with preference to current ATU represented employees.
Next up, we’ll be working to define term-limited positions in the CBA, and we’re also preparing an ATU-sponsored apprenticeship program presentation for Facilities Maintenance in December. This program will create a clear pathway from Tech 1 to Tech 2, giving members more opportunities to grow within their careers.
