ATU Local 1576 Bargaining UpdateCommunity Transit Employees

Date: June 23, 2025

Dear ATU Local 1576 Members,

Introduction

Local 1576 is committed to high transparency bargaining with Community Transit and all employers. As such, we intend to offer you an update after each meeting (internal bargaining committee meeting or actual bargaining session with CT).

Summary of Recent Activities

On June 18, 2025, the Union bargaining committee met with the Community Transit bargaining team. The meeting was an introductory meeting to discuss and negotiate ground rules, introduce the teams and review process.  The parties had solid discussions and negotiations over the ground rules. All rules except for one were agreed upon. The parties agreed to exchange a proposed settlement to that single dispute over email. The Union believes that this one issue will be settled shortly.

After reviewing and negotiating the ground rules, the parties discussed (from each side’s perspective) how they intend to frame bargaining. It was a fruitful discussion. Local President Dani Julien made it clear that from the Union’s perspective, that the Union intends to be fully transparent with the membership and intends to share every proposal it makes to management and every proposal management makes to the Union with the membership. Further, President Julien confirmed that all tentative agreements will be shared with the membership.

Next Steps

  • The bargaining committee will meet on June 24 to continure to draft proposals based on your interests and concerns.
