CT Barrier Doors Update: Community Transit and ATU 1576 had a kick-off meeting with the barrier door provider, Vision Systems Canada at 1pm Tuesday, May 20th. The company introduced itself and discussed CT’s requirements. On the 21st of May they spent the entire day on the buses, getting measurements. A demo door is coming soon!
ATU International Recognizes Sharon Parker: In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, our own Sharon Parker was recognized by the International for her outstanding contribution to ATU 1576. Sharon is an Executive Board Officer, and one of only two shop stewards for Transdev Dart. She is working closely with President Julien on the open contract between Transdev DART and ATU 1576. Her award says, in part: “…she wears many hats—Dispatcher, Shop Steward, contract negotiation team member, and trusted representative in grievance and disciplinary hearings….Sister Parker is someone who steps up, even when it’s hard. Through eight general managers in just two years, she’s remained a steady, knowledgeable, and reassuring presence for our members.”
You are an inspiration, Sister Parker!

Know your Weingarten Rights: If you are in a meeting with management, it is your right to ask for union representation if the meeting could lead to discipline, termination, or affect your working conditions.
New Shop Stewards: Please check your ATU board for the new list of Shop Stewards. This year we had 55 members sign up across all properties and classifications. Of those, 22 attended the training at the Labor Temple on Saturday, May 17th. Many of these individuals are first timers! We are so excited to see you grow in your leadership position with ATU 1576!
