Community Transit Bargaining Update and Seniority Advisory Vote Results October 29,2025
Dear Community Transit Members,
Your bargaining committee met today at Community Transit for a full day of work. The committee started the day with counting the ballots for the Part Time / Full Time Seniority Advisory Vote that was conducted at CT on October 24 and 28.
We had a 67.6% turnout of those eligible to vote in every classification. The majority of votes was for Option 2, applied after ratification of the new contract. The breakdown is as follows:
Option 1 Seniority will be maintained on two separate lists, one for full-time, one for part-time.
YES 115
Option 2 Seniority will be maintained on one list for full-time and part-time employees.
YES 211
- Question 2 further broke the question down to if members want this to be applied going forward, or retroactively (going backward).
- Retroactively (going backward):
- YES 86
- Prospectively (from the ratification of contract forward):
- YES 113
This is the clear direction that we needed to receive from the membership in order to make a proposal that reflects your wishes.
In addition to the Part Time / Full Time Seniority Advisory Vote, your committee met today to bargain for the Facilities Maintenance classification. The classification representative who has been present throughout this process is Jesse Cain. ATU walked the company through our proposal on topics including: a 5% of top tier pay incentive for specialized licensing; the creation of a new classification within the unit called Electronic Systems Technician; requiring each work order to specify if it is a Tech I or Tech II job (to ensure that Tech I members who do Tech II work are properly compensated); and Immediate Response pay for employees who are called to respond while off duty.
We are also in bargaining regarding a Training and Mentorship program that could lead to an Apprenticeship program, creating a much-needed path for Tech I to promote to Tech II.
Our next meeting will be November 5th at the Everett Labor Temple. Please stay tuned for more updates!
In Solidarity,
Dani Julien, President
