Community Transit Bid Error

Dear Members,

I want to share an important update regarding the Community Transit bid held this past weekend.

It was brought to my attention yesterday that due to an error in the bid setup, eight (8) weekend-off (Saturday and Sunday) positions were mistakenly omitted. As a result, operators from Bid Position #197 onward were not given the opportunity to select these days off by seniority, as outlined in our Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Following discussions with CT today, we’ve agreed to conduct a re-bid starting with Bid Position #197. Operators in Positions #1 through #196 will not be affected. Additionally, employees not already on the clock during their scheduled re-bid time will receive two hours of call-in pay.

Key Dates:
   •    Re-Bid Dates: May 18 & 19
   •    Bid Times Posted: Friday, May 9
   •    New Block Start Date: May 31

CT takes full responsibility for this mistake and is working collaboratively with the union to ensure that the CBA is upheld and a fair and equitable solution is reached. This letter, along with the communication from CT to employees will be distributed across all our union platforms.

We understand this situation is frustrating, and we’re committed to ensuring accountability. A debrief will take place to identify what went wrong and implement safeguards to prevent future issues, and ATU will have a seat at that table.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

In solidarity,
Dani Julien
