Update: ATU Member Attacked on Duty- Now Recovering

September 14, 2025

Dear Members,

I want to update you on some serious news we received today. Earlier this afternoon, Community Transit notified us that one of our Transit Security Officers was attacked at the Ash Way Park & Ride. During contact with an individual, our member was stabbed.

The response was immediate and thorough. Our member was transported quickly to the hospital, and Transit Police, the Sheriff’s Office, and canine units launched a search for the attacker, who has not yet been apprehended.

Vice President Perkins, along with TSO and Community Transit Safety management, responded directly to the hospital to support our member.

I am deeply relieved to share that our member is doing well and has since been discharged home. We are grateful for the swift response of everyone who stepped in to help during this frightening situation.

This update is the first step in keeping you informed, as more information is released to us.

Our TSO members put themselves on the line every day to keep our transit system safe. We honor their courage and commitment. At the same time, we must be clear: these assaults are unacceptable. Your union will continue to fight for the safety and protection of every member. Our hope is to work collaboratively with the agency and law enforcement in this effort.

Please continue to stand strong and stand together.

In solidarity,

Dani Julien

President, ATU Local 1576
