Island Transit Bargaining Update – October 20, 2025
Dear ATU Members,
We had a great turnout at yesterday’s Whidbey ATU Membership meeting — thank you to everyone who came out, and to those staying connected through our updates. Your support means a lot!
President Dani Julien gave a full rundown of where we started back in August and where we stand today. Our bargaining team met again today, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and we’re pleased to report it was a very productive session.
We wrapped up the day with a framework for a full Tentative Agreement with Island Transit — pending Board approval. The agency’s team is now working behind the scenes to finalize their counter, and once that is done, we can share full and specific details.
As soon as we reach a Tentative Agreement, we’ll hold a Special Meeting to go over all the details and answer your questions. Any new contract will, of course, go to the membership for your review prior to holding a ratification vote.
Your bargaining committee has been thoughtful, united, and determined. Your united voice has shaped our position in bargaining, and your active participation has moved us forward every step of the way.
We know the incredible value you bring to Island County — as the dedicated operators and dispatchers who keep our community moving — and we’re committed to winning the strong financial recognition you’ve earned.
Together, we are stronger. 💪
In solidarity,
Your ATU Bargaining Team
