Island Transit Oct 3, 2025 Bargaining Update
Dear ATU Family,
Your ATU Bargaining Team met with Island Transit today to continue negotiations. We worked through:
• Article 15 – Work Schedules
• Article 17 – Out of Classification Work
• Article 20 – Overtime
• Article 33 – Bidding of Work
Most of our time was spent on wages. This part was frustrating. Back on July 11, we gave Island Transit a complete proposal that included wages. They agreed to respond with their own full proposal by August 13. Instead, we were handed a “What If” wage scenario — not a real, binding proposal, just a conversation starter. As of today, we still have not received a protected, official wage proposal from Island Transit.
We believe this delay is meant to drag things out, but we aren’t backing down. A strong group of members showed up today to support the bargaining team, and two Island County residents even spoke up, calling out the unfairly low wages and urging the Board to invest in workers instead of devaluing our work.
Your solidarity makes all the difference. Stick together, members — we’re fighting hard, and we won’t let up until we win the wages and respect you deserve.
In solidarity,
Your ATU Bargaining Team
