Roadeo: President Julien and Recording Secretary Gamble enjoyed a beautiful day and some great barbecue June 29th, as we cheered on our members. Community Transit hosted the North Sound Regional Roadeo June 28 and 29. Not unexpectedly, Matt Chomjak took first! Abner Nakihei came in 2nd, and Titus Munteanu placed third. It was a beautiful day with a great turnout of drivers and their families.

CT Barrier Doors Update: Vision Systems Canada is currently working through the design challenges of retrofitting our fleet in order to install the barrier doors. There is a lot of plastic in the interior design of our coaches, rather than the metal they would need to attach the barrier to. In addition, they need to be sure not to drill into hidden wiring. However, they are diligent about maintaining their timeline and are working closely with maintenance to handle these issues. More updates to follow

Charter Meetings Date ChangesOur next meeting will be

  • August 10th, 2025 at 1:00pm in Everett
  • August 10th, 2025 at 5:30pm in Tacoma
  • August 12nd, 2025 at 10:00am in Everett

We apologize for the change. We will be at the National Convention on the 17th.

Transdev Lakewood Pre-Trip Audit: Executive Board Members Kevin Cox and Steve Short, with Financial Secretary Thompson conducted an audit of Transdev Lakewood’s pre-trip process. Many of the members have been complaining that 12 minutes to find your pre-assigned coach and do your pre-trip is not enough time. Secretary Thompson also discovered that the members are expected to sign off on the pre-trip prior to checking their mirrors and tail lights. The union is working with management to resolve these issues.

WHAT HAS ATU BEEN UP TO LATELY?!

  • Negotiations President Julien, along with Executive Board Member Sharon Thea Parker, continues to work with Transdev Dart to finalize their contract. Stay tuned: we are hopeful that this one is almost complete!

Community Transit: Our ATU Bargaining Team has met with CT 3 times now. The first meeting was to hammer out the ground rules. At the 2nd

meeting we introduced our entire proposal. At the third, CT brought a partial proposal and at yesterday’s meeting we responded to their partial proposal. We have been assisted in this process by our International Vice President, Michael Cornelius, who brings 30 years’ experience to the table. CT has told us they wold bring a wage proposal to the table before September.

Island Transit: Negotiations are on-going. We will have a thorough report in our next bulletin. Our next meeting is 8/1/25 at I.T. where they will present a partial proposal to the union.

Transdev Everett: The transition from Transdev Everett has officially begun. Thus far, 8 coach operators have joined Community Transit. Welcome!

Dangerous Stops on 2 CT routes: Executive Board member Robert Gaines reported to the E-Board that several drivers have been cut off by POV’s while stopped at a zone on the 102. The stop is before a stop sign. Cars are going around and cutting off the bus to make a right turn. He also brought our attention to a dangerous area on the 703 crossing over I-5. He volunteered to take these issues to the Safety Committee and to write up the stops on the green CO Route/Schedule forms. Thank you, Robert!
