Dear ATU Local 1576 Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear union brother, Curtis Wright. Curtis was a career Coach Operator at Community Transit, hiring on in his early 20’s in 2001, and in all these years, he became so much more than just a coworker—he became like family to so many.

If you knew Curtis, you knew his warmth, his kindness, and his ability to brighten any room with his smile and easy conversation. I knew him as the kind of person I always looked forward to seeing, who always had time for others—a quick chat, a laugh, a hug when you needed it most. His presence was a gift to us all, and losing him so suddenly is a devastating shock. There are no words that can fully capture how deeply he will be missed, or how much of a hole his absence leaves in our lives.

As we mourn this loss together, please know that both our union and Community Transit stand ready to support you. This is a time to lean on one another, to share memories, and to find comfort in the community Curtis helped build around him. If you need anything—someone to talk to, a space to grieve, or any kind of support—please reach out. We’re here for you.

We honor Curtis’s years of service, his dedication to his coworkers, and the love and laughter he brought into our lives. Let’s hold onto those memories and carry forward the kindness he always showed to others.

With deepest sympathy,
Dani Julien
